The Yorkshire Peat Partnership is supported by key partners who provide funding, aid delivery of the project and provide support for the wider Yorkshire Peat Partnership objectives.

 

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

The Yorkshire Wildlife is a conservation charity that provides the hub for the administration of the Yorkshire Peat Partnership. It is also instrumental in supporting the delivery of the project by providing headquarters, funding, staff, GIS, administrative and advisory support. The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is a leading conservation charity within the Yorkshire region. The trust has been working for over 60 years to protect Yorkshire’s wildlife havens and it works under the Living Landscapes vision to create an inspiring landscape rich in wildlife. It also works within the local community to educate and inspire.

The  Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is a key lead in the Yorkshire Peat Partnership by providing funding, management staff and wider administrative support. The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority seeks to protect and enhance the wildlife, natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It also encourages understanding and enjoyment of the Yorkshire Dales National Parks unique qualities.

 Moors National Park Authority

North York Moors National Park Authority

The North York Moors National Park Authority is a major funding partner of the Yorkshire Peat Partnership and has a designated YPP restoration officer working within the National Park. It provides a key supporting role by offering staff time and guidance to the works carried out by Yorkshire Peat Partnership. The North York Moors National Park Authority aims to conserve wildlife, culture and landscape of the area and provides opportunities for people to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the North York Moors.

Environment Agency

The Environment Agency is a major funding partner of the Yorkshire Peat Partnership. The Environment Agency aims to improve and protect the environment. They promote sustainable development and deliver environmental priorities in order to be part of the solution to the environmental challenges that society faces.

Natural England

Natural England

Natural England is fundamental in facilitating landowner liaison and funds all restoration works through Higher Level Stewardship (HLS). A Natural England representative is actively engaged with landowners to facilitate signing HLS agreements and to promote the benefits of peat restoration to the landuser community. Natural England’s primary objective is to create a better natural environment for all inhabitants of both rural and urban areas.

Yorkshire Water

Yorkshire Water are providing funding to the Yorkshire Peat Partnership for essential restoration  works in the in Nidderdale region. Their support will help to block drains and revegetate large areas of peatlands with the hope of improving water colouration and additional ecosystem services.
